Opinions about which eFoil is faster are cheap. A clock on a buoy course is not. Two very different boards were run back to back here on the same GPS calibrated layout, in the same wind and water, with tight turns, straights and acceleration zones in every lap. The Lift 5 Pro posted 48.37 seconds. The SiFly Stellar X posted 54.03.

Two boards built for different things

The Lift 5 Pro is the compact one: a 4 foot 2 carbon board on a 32 inch carbon mast, LCS fixed prop with no shroud, running a 100 Surf V2 front wing with a 32 Glide behind it. Light, stiff and reactive. The Stellar X is the opposite argument: a full carbon composite board on a 90cm aluminum mast, direct drive fixed prop with no shroud, a Sport 700 front wing and an SP 240 rear, with an 8 kW motor and a much higher ride height.

Where the time is actually won and lost

The gap opens at the start and in the corners. The lighter board with the smaller front wing gets to foiling speed almost immediately, then holds deep carves and quick transitions without breaching. The Stellar X builds speed more gradually, and its length, weight and aluminum mast flex make sharp buoy turns feel less precise, with wider arcs before the wing settles. It takes time back on the straights, where the taller mast rides above light chop and the low drag wing carries speed with fewer throttle corrections.

The lessons that transfer to your own setup

Three things come out of it. Shorter boards suit technical courses, because a higher wing load and less platform to swing mean faster response through turns. Taller masts suit chop, because the wing stays submerged and stable over cross wakes and rebound. And the wing pairing decides the character of the whole board, carving on one side, tracking and balance on the other, so the right choice depends on the course you are riding. Controller feel matters too: a long trigger throw with a programmable response curve gives you nuance through a corner that a more binary digital remote does not.
