Glide is the quality nobody advertises. Everyone quotes top speed and run time, but how far a foil carries once you stop feeding it power tells you more about the wing than either number does, and it is the thing you feel every time you come off the throttle into a turn.
The no power coast test
The test is simple enough to repeat at home if you have a buoy grid: get up to full speed, kill the throttle completely, and see how far the board keeps going. The buoys used here sit about 30 feet apart, and the board carries well past several of them with no throttle at all. That is a lot of free distance, and it changes how you ride, because a wing that coasts like this lets you set up turns without power instead of driving through them.
The setup being tested
The board is a Lift X on a 4 foot 8 carbon platform, running a Havoc 148 front wing with a 26 Flow stabilizer and the LCS folding prop. The folding prop matters for a glide test specifically, since a prop that folds out of the way is not fighting the wing while you coast. Conditions are flatwater with the buoy grid laid out across it.
From gliding to tick-tocking
The second half swaps mode entirely. Once the glide runs are done it becomes an agility session: tight whip turns and tick-tocking across the flats, closer to skatepark riding than to cruising, with the crashes left in. It is part of the Integrity Trials, which means gear tested in normal conditions by someone riding it daily rather than in a showroom.
