Getting an eFoil into the water is more awkward than it should be. The board is heavy, the mast hangs a long way below it, and there is nowhere obvious to put it down while you sort out the rest of your gear. This episode looks at a docking system that solves it without being designed for the job at all.
A kayak launch that suits eFoils better than kayaks
The system is the EZ Launch Residential, made by EZ Floating Docks and normally sold for kayaks. The point being made is that it works for eFoils with no modification and no repurposing. Two boards sit on it, secure and out of the way, until you are ready to ride. The design details that matter are the low step-in wall, which means you walk onto the dock rather than clambering, and the V shaped floating hull, which cradles the board while leaving room underneath for the mast. That clearance is the part most improvised solutions get wrong.
What the install involved
It was fitted to an existing EZ floating dock by a local supplier, and the whole install took roughly fifteen minutes before boards were being launched from it. If you have a dock already, this is an add on rather than a rebuild. The episode is short and shows the docking process itself, so you can judge how stable the board sits and how the step in and step out actually works before you spend anything.
