Ask which stance is most dangerous on an eFoil and the answer is not the one that looks sketchiest. It is the one that feels best. This short preview sets up a full episode built around leaving a trusted staggered stance behind and committing to midline.

Staggered keeps you ready to bail

With your feet staggered, one forward and one back, you stay balanced and, more to the point, you stay bailout ready. When something goes wrong you can step off to the side, away from the board, which is the whole reason experienced riders keep coming back to it. It is the stance that assumes you will eventually fall.

Midline is smoother, and less forgiving

Standing with both feet on the centreline of the board gives you even pressure over the mast and buttery rail to rail transitions, which is why it is so tempting once your carving improves. The cost is what sits directly beneath you. One bad slip while riding midline can send you straight into the wing or the prop, and that is the sort of fall that ends a season rather than a session.

What the full episode covers

The longer version runs about twelve minutes and works through the pros and cons of each stance, drills for refining your carves, and a generous supply of wipeouts collected while pushing both stances to their limits. If you are weighing up the switch yourself, that is where the detail lives.
