Glassy water, and why that is not always a gift
The session opens with a complaint most people would not expect: of all the conditions on offer, a dead glassy lake is the least loved. Add a small self inflicted problem to that. Riding in sandals rather than bare feet dulls the feedback through the deck, and on a foil where everything is done through your feet, losing that connection changes the whole feel of the board. It is a small detail that is worth remembering next time you walk down to the dock in a rush.
Calling the session when the sky turns
The mood shifts as the storm builds, and the ride ends early rather than pushing on. The reasoning is blunt and worth repeating: standing in open water with a long aluminium mast strapped to your hip is not where you want to be with lightning around. That is the safety point buried inside a music video, and it costs nothing to act on.
