A single drone flight over a lake is pretty. Fifty two of them, flown along the same path a week apart, become something else entirely. This is the first flight of a project designed to run from October 2024 to October 2025 over Little Carnelian Lake.
The rule that makes it work
The whole idea rests on repetition. Every week, the same flight path, the same lake, shot on a DJI Air 3. Nothing about the route changes, so the only thing that varies between clips is what the year is doing: the light, the weather, the colour of the trees, the state of the water. Once all 52 exist, they can be morphed together so an entire year passes in a few minutes. That constraint is what turns weekly footage into a time lapse of seasons rather than a folder of nice drone clips.
A sunset that arrived as a sunrise
The first flight did not go to plan, and it is better for it. What was intended as a sunset flight ended up as a sunrise one, with the drone climbing through fog and cloud before the lake appeared underneath. Why it belongs on an eFoil channel
Little Carnelian is the home water behind most of the riding here, so this is the same lake you see from board height in the rest of the episodes, viewed from above and across a full year instead. If you ride one body of water regularly, it is a project worth copying. All it takes is one repeatable flight path and the discipline to fly it once a week whether or not the light is good.
