Every grassroots event has one of these: the person who runs it, keeps it alive, and answers direct questions with a single word and no context. This episode is what happens when someone in that position asks for a PR campaign and then supplies almost nothing to build it from.
The information problem
The questions asked were simple ones. Should FoilFest be promoted at all. BAWLS is willing to sponsor with free drinks, so how many cans should be sent and where. The reply to all of that was, in effect, yes, plus an address, with no quantity attached. Same story with inviting Nick from Lift: the answer confirmed that nobody had invited him, and also that the invitation, the explanation of what FoilFest is and why it matters, and a personal bio of the organiser, were all now someone else’s job.
The Dungeons and Dragons solution
Faced with writing a bio for a man he has ridden with about three times and mostly discussed wing shapes with, the approach taken was to get out a Dungeons and Dragons character creation sheet and roll for it. Brook Durr came out as a stout dwarven fighter with limited magical ability, and that bio went off to Nick at Lift Foils along with the invitation to the 2026 Twin Cities FoilFest. The sponsorship form got the same treatment: a question mark in the quantity field, on the theory that a surprise delivery is still a delivery.
Why small eFoil events run like this
It is worth being fair to the organiser here, because this is how almost every grassroots gathering in a small sport works. One person does it for the love of it, in their spare time, with no budget and no reason to run a communications plan. The cost is that the event is nearly impossible to discover unless you already know somebody who goes, which is exactly the problem this episode is stumbling towards solving by accident. The filming is interrupted at one point by six Mustangs flying overhead, which is roughly the level of focus the whole thing operates at.

Buried under the chaos is real information.
