Some setups are for going fast in a straight line and some exist to be leaned over. This ride edit is entirely about the second kind: continuous deep carves, filmed from above, with nothing to distract from the shape of the turns.
The carving setup
The combination flown here is a 160 Camber Pro front wing with a 36 Glide stabiliser, described as the favourite carving setup in the quiver. A larger cambered front wing generates lift at lower speed and holds a loaded turn rather than releasing out of it, which is what allows a carve to stay smooth and fluid instead of skipping. The stabiliser choice is the other half of that: it settles the tail and keeps the arc predictable while you are asking a lot of the front wing.
Filmed by a drone on rails
The footage comes from a DJI Air 3 flying a pre-programmed flight path at maximum speed in order to keep up with the ride. That is a useful technique to know if you film alone. A programmed path removes the need for someone to react to the rider, and it keeps the camera moving at a constant speed so the carving reads as flow rather than as a series of clips.
A note on the music
This episode is a reupload. The footage was shot in September 2024 and edited precisely to the beat and melody shifts of the track it was cut to, and then the rights to use that song were withdrawn after the edit was finished. It stays online for the visuals regardless, which is a good argument for cutting your ride edits to music you are certain you can keep.
