LiftX vs Lift5 Pro: how the two Lift boards actually ride

Owning two eFoils sounds like an indulgence until you look at how the afternoon actually plays out. This session covers what changes when a LiftX sits in the quiver next to a Lift5 Pro, and why the difference between them is less about which one wins and more about which one suits the water in front of you.

Battery turnaround is the quiet advantage

The first thing praised here is not speed, it is the charging. The LiftX battery is light and it comes back to full roughly as fast as it goes flat, which means the pack coming off the water goes straight on charge while the other board goes out. Rotating between the two boards and their packs stretches an afternoon into several rides back to back rather than one ride and a long wait. If you have ever stood in a garage watching a charger tick over while the lake stays glassy, that is the frustration this setup removes.

Two boards, two personalities

The LiftX is described as light enough that it lifts almost the moment you pull the trigger, agile, happy to turn on a dime. The Lift5 Pro is the heavier of the two and it behaves like it: set a speed, hold a line, and it drives. The comparison offered in this episode is a crotch rocket against a high end motocross bike with long travel suspension, and that captures the choice well. On a lake with no swell to punch through there is no reason to reach for a folding prop or the smaller motor, so the decision comes down to whether you want to be flicked around or locked in.

The worldwide eFoil leaderboard

The second half of the episode moves off the water and onto the Verdant Ride site, where rider GPX uploads have started arriving steadily from around the world. A leaderboard now ranks hours, miles and speed, and the early results are humbling: a rider in Germany turned up with a mileage and hours total large enough to be checked for plausibility against the rest of the uploaded rides before being accepted as genuine. That is the point of collecting the data. Once enough sessions are logged, comparisons that riders actually argue about, such as wing choice against battery efficiency, become answerable with numbers instead of opinions.

Every brand is welcome

The leaderboard is deliberately open. Lift, Fliteboard, Waydoo, Awake, Audi and home built boards all count, and custom board names can be entered so a garage build shows up under its own title. Riders on one brand can already compare sessions inside that brand’s own app, but nothing lets the wider sport see itself in one place. That is the gap this is trying to close, and it only works if you upload your rides.
